
When giving a lecture on Stress Management, Stephen Covey lift a glass of water and asked his students: "How heavy do you think about this glass of water?" The students answered ranging from 200 grams to 500 grams. "It's not a matter of absolute weight, but depending on how long I hold it," said Covey.
"If I hold it for 1 minute, no problem. If I hold it for 1 hour, my right arm would hurt. And if I hold it for 1 whole day, maybe you need to call an ambulance for me. It weighs exactly the same, but the longer I hold it, then the burden will be heavier. "

STRESS, one mild type of mental disorder that can be experienced by anyone. Starting from children, teenagers, parents to the elderly, with levels of different disorders.
Contributing factor could vary as well. A teenager can be stressful because of difficulties in learning or breakup. Parents can stress the thought of the doings of her children who were unruly and rebellious.
In fact, one could stress just because her beloved pet dies. There are many other factors stressors (stressor) with different levels, from mild stressor to severe stressor. Stressor severity relative to everyone.
For example, stress experienced by the A could be considered mild, but not necessarily be considered mild by the B. It could be stress that the natural person A is considered severe by the B. So, heavy and light load depending on the people who bear the stress.
The emergence of stress is often caused by the weight of the burden of life that we endure. According to Covey, the burden of our lives just like the glass of water raised by our hands. Sometimes we feel our lives are too heavy burden and can not be resolved again, to the extent that we feel hopeless.
And Allah will never give any trouble or expense of living beyond our ability, as his word;
"God will not burden a person's life, but according to their ability levels." (Surat al-Baqara 2: 233).
In Islam, stress is a mental illness that needs to be treated with the approach stated in the Qur'an and Hadith. There are four ways in curing disease stress, among others;
First, Plant Life Patience.
Patience, always makes a person feel calm and serene, his heart was always grateful to the blessings given by Allah SWT., So that the people who patiently life always felt self-sufficiency.
He never asked for anything that is not right, because Allah SWT. will give a reply to those who endure in the form of enjoyment of heaven, as his word:
"What's on your side will vanish, and what's on the side of God is eternal. And We shall reward the people who are impatient with a better reward (heaven) of what they have done. "(Surah An-Nahl 16: 96)
Patience is the key foundation in the face of berbagaimacam exam. Exams are upon us should be coupled with positive thinking (kind would have thought) to Allah SWT. For behind the exam that befall us, certainly there are lessons that we will get. Therefore, Allah states in His Word,
"And give glad tidings to those who wait. (Namely) those who, when disaster struck, they say: 'Inna wa lillaahi innaa ilaihi raaji'uun' (Verily Allah we belong and unto Him we shall return). Those who got a perfect blessing and mercy from their Lord and they are the ones who receive guidance. " (Q.S.Al-Baqarah 2: 155-157)
Living in this world to be colored by a variety of exams. After one passes the exam will be confronted with the next test, until the end of life in this world.
Stress is the staircase test to measure one's faith. When a person is stressed, then he is patient, then he has gone one step towards faith in the perfect.
Second, barengi with Gratitude.
After we filled the soul with patience, then the soul barengilah with gratitude. Because, patient soul who will give birth to a clever man grateful.
Gratitude is often defined as "using God's blessings received in accordance with the desired destination by him". For instance, favors property must diinfakkan, science must diamalkan, age to worship and so forth.
Gratitude is also expressed relief can mean the heart is given because of the pleasure of Allah SWT., By devout execute God's commands and avoid His prohibitions. So, thanks have a broad meaning.
Not simply vibration thanks to himself, saying in a tongue or hold a celebration, but more important is to utilize all the gifts of God in His blessed path. For example, God gave to the human mind, then use it reasonable to think, learn to be able to produce good ideas and correct.
God mengkaruniakan human limbs are perfect, it should be used for worship and doing things that are useful for the welfare of living. Allah says:
"... Be thankful to Me and to your father ... two mothers." (Q. S. Luqman 31: 14).
In one haditsnya, Messenger of Allah said, "People who do not want to thank the man, certainly not going to give thanks to God."
When we are stressed because of the many problems we face, then we are patient and grateful for the blessings God has given to us, then God willing we experience stress that can be cured, most can not be minimized.
Third, Build Life Optimistic.
Optimistic is an attitude that always holds good in the face of all things. This optimistic attitude is an attitude that is highly recommended in Islam, as his word,
"Do not be weak (pessimistic), and not (too) ye grieve, whereas you were the highest (rank), if ye are believers." (Q. S. Ali Imran 3: 139).
Attitude must be beat pessimistic optimist who could be a slip in our hearts. That is why if you want to live successful, we should be able to build a sense of optimism in themselves.
Optimistic resulting from a sense of trust is what makes the Prophet Muhammad and the companions to win the battle recorded in the history of the world, ranging from the war until the battle of Badr in the Islamic kekhalifan until centuries.
Therefore, optimism is the ability to believe that life is not easy, but with the new effort, life would be better. Optimism is the ability to see the brighter side of life and maintain a positive attitude that is realistic, even in a difficult situation though.
Optimistic means trying as much as possible in reaching the target or ideal standard.
Fourth, pray Every Time.
The most important thing in dealing with stress (live load) is to multiply the prayer. Because prayer is the power of the Most Powerful, who could solve every problem of life. In the Qur'an, Allah Almighty has taught us about prayer in overcoming the problem, namely;
لا يكلف الله نفسا إلا وسعها لها ما كسبت وعليها ما اكتسبت ربنا لا تؤاخذنا إن نسينا أو أخطأنا ربنا ولا تحمل علينا إصرا كما حملته على الذين من قبلنا ربنا ولا تحملنا ما لا طاقة لنا به واعف عنا واغفر لنا وارحمنا أنت مولانا فانصرنا على القوم الكافرين
"Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or mistake. Our Lord, do not you charge us a heavy load (stress) as you charge to people who were before us. Our Lord, Thou pikulkan to us what we could not bear it. Give ma `Aflah us, forgive us, and we rahmatilah. You are our Helper, then help us against the disbelieving folk. "(Surat al-Baqara 2: 286)
These four deeds that we need to resume practicing when faced with the problems of life. Allaah knows best.
